Season 47 of the reality show 'Survivor' lands this September on CBS with a new group of castaways. If you want to know how and where to watch 'Survivor' online from any location, this guide has everything you need, including where to watch 'Survivor' for free.
The 47th installment of reality TV series ‘Survivor’ is set to begin this fall. Emmy Award-winning host Jeff Probst will be back once again as we watch 18 contestants get split into three tribes and become stranded on Mamunuca Island in Fiji. If you’re traveling or new to the series, this guide will show you how and where to watch ‘Survivor’ online from anywhere.
‘Survivor’ is a CBS show, and there are a few ways you can watch the new season even if you don’t have cable. However, your options are more limited if you’re outside of the U.S. That’s okay, though, as you can always use a VPN to access the show if needed. For a quick answer, we recommend using the best VPN, NordVPN.

Where to Watch Survivor: Season 47
Since ‘Survivor’ is a CBS series, it’s broadcast on the CBS channel. If you want to watch it online, then your options are a live TV streaming service or Paramount+.
However, those options won’t be available in all locations, and geoblocks will prevent you from accessing the show or the entire service if you’re in the wrong region.
By using a virtual private network (VPN), you can connect to a server in a country where CBS or Paramount+ are available. Your true IP address will be masked with one from that country, which will trick the service into thinking you’re physically there and grant you access.
Which Streaming Services Have Survivor?
Season 47 of ‘Survivor’ starts on Wednesday, Sept. 18 on the CBS channel. If you don’t have a cable or satellite subscription, you can watch it on a live TV streaming service that carries CBS. This includes YouTube TV, fuboTV and Hulu + Live TV. All of these options are for the U.S., though, so you’ll need a U.S. VPN server to get access.
Alternatively, you can watch ‘Survivor’ on Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access) in the U.S. Although Paramount Plus is available in a good number of countries, including the U.K., Canada, Australia, and other European and American countries, the content available in each of those countries differs.
Many of those countries have ‘Survivor,’ but the release of season 47 will be delayed outside the U.S.
If the show (including season 47) or Paramount+ itself is not available where you are, you can hop on a U.S. VPN server to gain access. Signing up for Paramount Plus U.S. requires a U.S. payment method. If you don’t have one, you can make use of a prepaid U.S. card, such as StatesCard, which we’ll detail in our how-to further down.
If you want to catch up or revisit a season, you can watch previous seasons of ‘Survivor’ on demand on a couple of streaming services, but Paramount+ is the go-to place. We’ve provided a table to show you exactly what’s available.
Service: | Seasons | Country | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Paramount+ | 47 seasons | 🇺🇸 | Seven-day free trial. |
Paramount+ | 46 seasons | 🇦🇺 🇨🇦 | Seven-day free trial. |
Hulu | 18 seasons (2-7, 9-10, 14-19, 22, 25-27) | 🇺🇸 | Free trial available. |
You can also rent and purchase episodes and seasons on some services, including Vudu, Google Play and Apple TV.
Is Survivor on Netflix?
No, we couldn’t find ‘Survivor’ on Netflix. That’s likely because Paramount+ holds the rights to it in many countries, allowing you to watch all 46 previous seasons. Of course, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on Netflix around the world in case it ever becomes available on the platform, as Netflix is constantly adding new content.
How to Access Other Netflix Libraries
Checking another Netflix library is easy with the help of a VPN. Simply connect to a server in the region that you want to check and log in to your Netflix account as usual. You should then be able to browse that country’s Netflix library. This is a great tip if you want to stream a show that’s not available in your region.
How to Watch Survivor for Free
If you want to watch the reality TV series live, some live TV streaming services offer a free trial, including YouTube TV and fuboTV. However, most free trials only last seven days. Even if you manage to snag a 30-day trial with YouTube TV, it won’t be enough to watch the whole season for free, since episodes are released weekly.
Your best bet for watching season 47 episodes for free is to sign up for a Paramount+ free trial. Once again, this only lasts seven days, but if you don’t mind waiting until the season has finished, you can have an on-demand binge-watching session completely free.
If you need a VPN to access the show, you can use a good free VPN or a premium VPN’s money-back guarantee to get a refund at the end.
How to Watch Survivor With a VPN
In this section, we’ll show you how to stream episodes of ‘Survivor’ on Paramount Plus using the free trial and NordVPN, the best VPN option for unblocking Paramount Plus. If you want to use a live TV streaming service to access CBS, change the steps where needed.
- Sign Up for NordVPN
Go to the NordVPN homepage and sign up for one of its plans. The two-year plan works out the cheapest in the long run, and all plans are covered by the 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Install the VPN App
Install NordVPN’s app. It’s compatible with most devices, and there’s also a browser extension. After that, launch the app and log in to your account.
- Connect to a Server
Connect to a server in the U.S. Use NordVPN’s map or the server list to find the server you want. When you click on the server, it should connect automatically. If not, click on the “connect” power button.
- Sign Up for Paramount Plus
Go to the Paramount Plus website and sign up for its free trial. You’ll need a U.S. payment method for this, but if you don’t have one, you can use a prepaid card like StatesCard to sign up. StatesCard is not free, but it costs less than a month of Paramount Plus and will come in handy for any other U.S. channels or subscriptions you want.
- Start Streaming Survivor
Search for ‘Survivor’ on Paramount Plus and start streaming it.
The Best VPNs for Watching Survivor
For the best chance of unblocking Paramount Plus or the CBS channel, you need a VPN that can bypass geoblocks easily and has fast enough speeds for a smooth stream. Here are our top VPN recommendations.
1. NordVPN — Best Streaming VPN
Very Fast
Very Fast
Very Fast
NordVPN is a top choice for watching ‘Survivor’ episodes online. It has thousands of servers in more than 100 countries, including the U.S., and can unblock streaming services with ease. NordVPN also regularly takes the lead in our ongoing speed tests; it’s the fastest VPN on average.
You can install it on up to 10 devices, and its app is mostly user-friendly. We say “mostly” because NordVPN has a neat server map that you can use to select a location to connect to, but it’s hard to navigate on a small screen. NordVPN also has top-notch security features and an included ad blocker, which is great for blocking ads on Paramount Plus.
Price-wise, NordVPN is affordable on its longer plans, making it a great option if you’re on a tight budget. It also has a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can make sure you like it. Read our NordVPN review for more details.
2. Surfshark — Best Budget VPN for Streaming

Surfshark is a budget alternative to NordVPN. It comes with unlimited simultaneous connections, which means that not only can you install it on every device you own, you can also share it with friends and family to split the bill.
Surfshark isn’t just cheap though, it’s also very capable. It has some of the fastest speeds we’ve tested, as well as an ad blocker for an uninterrupted streaming experience. The only drawback is that it can doesn’t offer the same breadth of features on its cheapest plans — you have to pay extra for any advanced features.
The cheapest plan available goes for $2.19 per month with a two-year commitment. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can trial the service risk-free. Read our full Surfshark review for more.

Going in the opposite direction from Surfshark is ExpressVPN. This premium VPN will cost you a pretty penny, but it comes with everything you could want from a streaming VPN: excellent speeds, outstanding unblocking ability and ad blocking. It even throws in a password manager at no extra cost.
Better yet, it offers all of this in one neat, easy-to-use package. Connecting to a VPN server takes one click, and the user interface is generally clean and easy to understand, even for complete newbies.
At its cheapest, ExpressVPN costs $6.66 per month on a yearly plan. That’s a bit more expensive than our other two options, but if you find the interface and ease of use appealing, it could well be worth it. ExpressVPN comes with a 30-day refund window so you can try it out for yourself. Our ExpressVPN review has more details.
Contestants & Plot: Survivor
The reality show ‘Survivor’ has been a source of entertainment on CBS since May 2000. It’s a popular show that sees a new season air twice per year and has the same award-winning host, Jeff Probst, each time.
Each season has a group of around 16-20 new contestants who are purposely stranded in a remote location. They are then divided into multiple groups — usually three tribes — and each has to build their shelter, catch or find food and ultimately survive.
The tribes are also forced to compete against one another in multiple challenges, with each having a luxury reward, such as tools, food, a phone call home or immunity from elimination. As members are eliminated, those left in the tribes get merged together and face individual challenges. The end goal is to be the last survivor, for whom a $1 million prize is waiting.
Season 47 is back in Fiji and will see 18 contestants in the running for the prize. Here is the full contestant list for season 47 of ‘Survivor.’
