Video Actor / Vlogger [Trustona Media] – Fully Remote

Job Description:

Are you passionate about the power of visual storytelling? Do you have a creative spark that ignites when you think about capturing and crafting compelling videos? If so, then this might be the role for you!

At Trustona Media, we create content that people love and search engines understand, operating dozens of online publications for a variety of audiences.

We are currently in search of a freelance video actor / vlogger to support our publications Cloudwards and Coffeeness.

Cloudwards.net is a leading online publication providing information, news, articles and interviews for cloud-based software. We reach over 1,000,000 visitors monthly and continue to grow month after month.

Coffeeness is the biggest blog about coffee and coffee machines in Germany with over half a million visitors each month. The publication is currently available in four other languages: English, Dutch, French and Spanish.

About the Role:

The primary purpose of the Video Actor / Vlogger role at Trustona Media is to produce and record videos for our various media channels. We will provide you with a script to read, and based on this you will generate raw video content for subsequent editing by our team. There may also be some additional support tasks to assist with video preparation.

This will be a freelance contractor role and the weekly commitment can be either part-time or full-time (to be discussed at time of interview). The role is completely remote, so the candidate should have basic video recording equipment of their own and an environment that allows them to record good quality video footage.

Our ideal candidate is someone who has prior experience dabbling with YouTube videos (you might already have your own channel). While extensive experience in photography or videography is not mandatory, you should have the basic knowledge of recording videos and using a teleprompter.

Required Skills:

  • A strong passion for video creation and storytelling.
  • Ability to read fluently from a teleprompter.
  • Ability to paraphrase and improvise off the given script, delivering the content in a way that flows most naturally.
  • Willingness to learn camera operation and video production techniques.
  • Prior experience in video creation is a plus.
  • Can work within our project management and communication tools with the editorial team.
  • Must be able to work in a timely manner so that content can be published on schedule.

Working Hours: Flexible

Compensation: To be discussed throughout the hiring process.

If this sounds like the team for you, we look forward to receiving your application!

Content Writer (Applications on hold)

Job Description:

Are you a writer with an interest in cloud-based technology and want consistent remote work? Then this opportunity is exactly what you’re looking for.

We’re looking to strengthen our writing team with people that are interested in writing about software (with a focus on backup, storage, project management and VPNs). If that sounds like a good fit for you, keep reading to see what we offer and what we expect.

We are seeking writers with native or fluent English, and who are comfortable with American use and style. You need to care about our readers and be willing to put in that extra bit of effort to properly inform them of the software purchases they’re considering. You also need to really be into how software works and translating that into solid copy that really gets into the nitty-gritty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and revise (as needed) at least one article per week (four per month), with a word count usually running between 1,500 and 3,000.
  • Collaborate with editors and other stakeholders to produce high-quality, compelling content.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments to ensure content relevancy.

Required Skills:

  • You have strong writing experience about cloud-based technologies.
  • You are a good communicator with our editorial team.

  • You are able to test cloud-based tools for content research.
  • You can work with our project management tool (ClickUp), communication tool (Zulip), Google Docs and SEO browser add-on tools.
  • You can take feedback from the editorial team and have a positive attitude.
  • You hold journalism ethics to high standards — we have a zero-tolerance plagiarism policy, zero subcontractor policy, and zero AI-writing policy.
  • Willingness to follow SEO best practices.

Why Join Cloudwards?

  1. Write Honest Reviews: Our content library has thousands of detailed reviews, comparisons, roundups, etc. We value honesty and transparency, and we never sacrifice quality for quantity.

Like most review sites, we make a small commission off of any sales we help facilitate, but we take our role as reviewers seriously. We give only fair assessments of the products we review.
  2. Consistent Work & Prompt Pay: We know that working as a freelance writer has its challenges, including having a consistent workflow. That’s why we can guarantee you a certain number of articles per month, with a minimum of four articles per month. However, if you want to write more, we love that! You can write as much as you want. You’ll also be able to see the upcoming articles in advance so you can plan your schedule accordingly.

As for payments, we pay all our team members promptly by the first of each month for articles that have been published. This means a consistent and reliable paycheck.

All pieces will go through our full editorial queue — feedback from your editor, copy edits, fact checking, final edits, formatting — meaning it takes roughly a week from first submission for it to appear on the site.
  3. Strong Editorial Guidance: We know that you’ll write more and better if you have a support structure around you. That’s why we create a thorough briefing for each article we assign you, with clear instructions on what angle you’ll write, how many words to include, plus which headings and topics to cover. There’s no second guessing what the editorial team wants from you — it’s clear before you put any words on the page.

As long as you’re willing to work with a nice outline structure, you’ll be able to work efficiently and not have to worry about major revisions after you’ve put a lot of work into the article.

Plus, you’ll also have one dedicated editor, so they will be able to provide consistent feedback to help you grow as a writer with Cloudwards.
  4. Clear, Creative Writing: Here at Cloudwards, we try to have a friendly, more casual tone so readers aren’t intimidated by the content. Do you hate the words “plethora” and “myriad”? We do, too. We use simple language that anyone can understand.

However, we want our writers to have fun with the content and let their personal voice come through. You also get a byline, and your bio and headshot on our site’s “about” page.
  5. Work Remotely & Set Your Own Schedule: We are a fully remote team with workers all over the world, from California and Mexico to Kenya and Cyprus. As long as you are a fluent English writer and you have a consistent WiFi connection, where you live is up to you.

Plus, great people don’t necessarily do their best work by staring at a monitor for eight hours straight every day. So at Cloudwards, you’ll have the flexibility to design a schedule that allows you to do your best work from anywhere in the world. You’ll have only one deadline — the day that your article/s are due each week.

Otherwise, as long as you can check your messages for feedback from your dedicated editor and make timely adjustments to your articles as they move through the editorial queue, your schedule is fully flexible.

Copy Editor (Applications on hold)

Job Description:

Are you an experienced copy editor with at least three years of professional experience? Do you know the difference between AP and Chicago copy editing? Are you looking for part-time freelance work that you can do from anywhere? Do you like reading about cloud-based technology? If so, then this might be the role for you!

We’re looking to strengthen our editorial team by hiring another part-time freelance Copy Editor who is ready to dive into the nitty-gritty edits of our articles. Our articles range from 1,000 words to (occasionally) 5,000 words, averaging around 2,500 words. They focus on cloud-based technology, including backup, storage, project management and VPNs.

The role would offer about 10-15 hours per week, with the potential to expand in the future. Our articles are edited based on AP style, with some adjustments for Cloudwards style. Articles within the editorial flow will require prompt copy editing within 24 hours to make sure articles can be published on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Copy edit content for clarity, grammar, accuracy and consistency while ensuring adherence to the AP stylebook and the Cloudwards style guidelines.
  • Complete copy editing within 24 hours from assignment.
  • Provide constructive feedback to content writers to continuously improve the quality of work.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments to ensure content relevancy.

Required Skills:

  • At least three years of professional copy editing experience, preferably with AP style.
  • Must be able to adjust copy editing style to match Cloudwards’ style guides.
  • Must be able to work independently but be able to communicate promptly with the editorial team.
  • Can work within our project management and communication tools with the editorial team. (We use ClickUp and Zulip.)
  • Must be able to work in a timely manner so that editorial articles can be published on schedule.
  • Ideally should have an interest in cloud-based technology, like VPNs, cloud storage and project management.

Why Join Cloudwards?

  1. Consistent and Reliable Pay: We pay all our freelance team members promptly by the first of each month — this means a consistent and reliable paycheck.
  2. Work Remotely and Set Your Own Schedule: We are a fully remote team with workers all over the world, from California and Mexico to Kenya and Cyprus. As long as you are a fluent English writer and you have a consistent WiFi connection, where you live is up to you.

Plus, great people don’t necessarily do their best work by staring at a monitor for eight hours straight every day. You’ll have the flexibility to design a schedule that allows you to do your best work, as long as you are able to regularly communicate with the team and meet your deadlines.
  3. Join a Fun, Diverse Team: We’re a fun bunch, and we enjoy spending time together. Right now, that happens digitally, but we’ll have in-person meet-ups as soon as the circumstances permit.

We are also a team that fosters inclusion and celebrates diversity. Here, you can be yourself. Cloudwards does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability or veteran status.
