How & Where to Watch The Chi 2025: Stream Season Six Online Anywhere
We’re in for a two-part sixth season of The Chi starting this August. Whether you want to watch season six or previous seasons, this guide shows you how and where to watch The Chi online from anywhere.
Drama TV series The Chi is back for a sixth season this August, and this time we’ve been treated to more episodes than usual, albeit in two parts. It’s a Showtime series, but there are a few ways you can watch it. This guide will tell you everything you need to know about how and where to watch The Chi online from anywhere.
Since it first aired in January 2018, The Chi has become a fan favorite. It’s based in Chicago’s south side and focuses on multiple households and their everyday lives — complete with daily danger in a tough neighborhood, race issues and poverty. Like many of us, the families have to overcome life’s challenges and crushed dreams, which is probably why the show is so popular.
As we mentioned, the show is available on a few platforms, but that doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to have access to it. Geoblocks decide which regions can access a show or platform, so if you’re in a country where it’s not available, you’ll be blocked. We’ll provide more detail in a minute, but for now, know that a top VPN like NordVPN is the best solution.

Where to Watch The Chi: Season Six
Previous seasons of The Chi can be found on multiple platforms, but the new season is a little more restricted. Plus, it’s not available in all countries. That’s because of geoblocks, which control which regions can access certain content or even an entire service. If you try to access The Chi from outside of where it is available, you’ll be blocked.
The reason for these geoblocks is to help streaming services stay in line with the distribution agreements they’re bound by. So if you want to watch a show on Disney Plus that is only allowed to be shown in the U.S., but you’re in Australia, you won’t be able to access it.
Getting around the blocks isn’t hard. A virtual private network (VPN) is all you need, as long as it can bypass such blocks and has servers in the same country as the content you want to access. Once you connect to one of those VPN servers, the streaming platform is fooled into believing that you’re physically there and will grant you access.
Which Streaming Services Have The Chi?
The Chi season six premiered on Sunday, August 6 on the Showtime channel, but subscribers of certain streaming services that include the Showtime plan were able to catch the show early on August 4.
Note that this is part one of season six, though. There are 16 episodes in total, but they’ve been split into two parts and we don’t yet have an official date for the premiere of part two (we’ll update this when we know).
Paramount+ with the Showtime plan is the official way to watch season six, as well as all five previous seasons. It’s also available on Hulu with the Showtime add-on. However, both of these options are only available in the U.S., so you’ll need a U.S. VPN server if you’re not in the country.

Paramount Plus and Hulu with the Showtime add-on in the U.S.
You can also watch The Chi on Amazon Prime Video U.S. with the Paramount+ add-on. That includes all seasons, including the new season six.

with the Paramount Plus add-on.
Season six and previous seasons of The Chi are available on fuboTV too. FuboTV is available in the U.S., Canada and Spain, but you’ll need to connect to a U.S. VPN server to watch it. Crave in Canada has all six seasons of The Chi too, so if you have a Crave account, but you’re not in the country, you can use a Canadian VPN server to access it.
Disney Plus in the U.K. also has The Chi. However, while all five previous seasons are available there currently, we don’t have an official release date for season six. Previous seasons can also be purchased or rented from services like Apple TV, Vudu and Google Play.
Is The Chi on Netflix?
No, you can’t watch The Chi on Netflix. It’s a Showtime series, so it’s only available on certain services and often only with the Showtime add-on.
Netflix’s content library changes frequently, so if The Chi ever becomes available on the platform, we’ll be sure to update this section. Of course, you can always check Netflix from time to time to see if The Chi or any other show you want to watch is available on the platform.
How to Access Other Netflix Libraries
Not only does the content available on Netflix often change, but its content libraries also differ by country. That means you should not only check your local Netflix library, but also the Netflix libraries of other regions. That way, you can be sure if the show or movie is available or not.
To do this, simply connect to a server in the same country as the Netflix library you want to check. Then, go to Netflix and log into your account as usual. You should now see that country’s content library, and you can use the search function to check if the movie or show you want is available there.
How to Watch The Chi for Free
We couldn’t find The Chi on any reputable free streaming services, such as Pluto TV or Tubi, but there are a couple of ways you can watch it for free.
Paramount+ with the Showtime plan is offering a 30-day free trial to new customers. You’ll need a U.S. payment method to sign up, but there is a way around this if you don’t have one — a virtual U.S. prepaid card. You can also get a free trial of Hulu with the add-on.

Alternatively, you could get a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime Video U.S. and a seven-day trial of the Showtime add-on. FuboTV also offers a free trial, but only for seven days.
Keep in mind that with new episodes of The Chi being released weekly, none of these free trials will get you through the entire new season. That is unless you’re willing to wait until the season has concluded, sign up for one of the above free trials and binge-watch the show. You can also pair a free trial with a VPN’s money-back guarantee to watch the show entirely for free.

The Best VPNs for Watching The Chi
If you want the best possible chance of unblocking the streaming service you have chosen, you need to choose a VPN service that is capable of accessing such platforms easily. It’s also beneficial to have fast speeds and plenty of servers available. Here are our three best VPN recommendations for watching The Chi.
1. NordVPN — Best VPN for Watching The Chi

Very Fast

Very Fast

Very Fast
NordVPN is our top recommendation and its speeds are faster than most other premium VPNs on average. It can access streaming services easily and its server network includes thousands of servers, though they cover fewer countries — 60 in total. NordVPN ensures you stay safe while you stream with its top-notch security.
Its app includes a nifty server map from which you can easily choose the server you need (it also includes a standard server list and search function at the side). However, while the desktop version is easy to use, the mobile version isn’t. The smaller screen makes it harder to navigate.
Still, NordVPN is an affordable option. Its two-year plan provides the best value and comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee in case you change your mind. Read our NordVPN review for more details.
2. Surfshark — Best Cheap VPN for Streaming The Chi

Very Fast

Very Fast

Very Fast
Surfshark is the best cheap VPN for streaming because its long-term plans break down to a very reasonable price. It’s best to go for one of these, as the monthly plans are very expensive, as is the case with most VPN providers. Surfshark is also reliable with streaming services and has some of the best speeds of the bunch.
If you need to know more about Surfshark, you can check out our detailed Surfshark review. If you’re already won over, you can sign up for a plan and claim your money back within 30 days if you’re not satisfied.

3. ExpressVPN — User Friendly Streaming VPN

and has thousands of servers around the world.

Very Fast

Very Fast

Very Fast
ExpressVPN is a top VPN for streaming. We’ve tested ExpressVPN time and time again with many different streaming services, and it has managed to unblock each one easily. Its server network helps with that since it covers 105 countries. It also has fast speeds, making sure that your stream is of good quality.
You can install ExpressVPN on many device types and each of them benefits from ease-of-use and strong security. However, it isn’t the most affordable VPN you can get. Though opting for the annual plan will save you money and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee to fall back on, ExpressVPN is still expensive. Read our ExpressVPN review for more information.
