NordVPN Announces the End of Meshnet
As of Dec. 1, 2025, NordVPN’s Meshnet feature will be shut down due to low adoption rate with NordVPN users.

Meshnet allowed users to set up an encrypted tunnel between devices for sharing files, gaming and working on projects together. The peer-to-peer connections didn’t require connecting to an internet service provider or even to a NordVPN server, allowing for more privacy. Our guide on NordVPN Meshnet has more details.
Since the tool’s launch in 2022, NordVPN didn’t see users flock to the tool. In NordVPN’s official announcement about the decision, the company cited that the free tool required “significant ongoing resources” and only a small number of users engaged with the feature.
“As time went on, it became clear that while a small group of dedicated users valued Meshnet, it never really caught on the way we’d hoped. It had a clear purpose but didn’t resonate with the NordVPN community.”
When NordVPN shuts down Meshnet, the company will remove all functionality, including device linking, traffic routing through other devices and personal mesh networks. NordVPN says it will redirect freed-up resources toward improving the VPN’s speeds, security and other features.

NordVPN recommends seeking alternatives now.
