Ubigi eSim Review
Ubigi isn't as well known as its eSIM competitors. My Ubigi eSIM review dives into if it's worth investing in one of its mobile data plans.
Paris-based eSIM service Ubigi currently boasts a 4.1-star rating on Trustpilot. In this Ubigi eSIM review, I go through its features, affordability, user-friendliness and customer service with a fine-toothed comb to discover whether it deserves its high rating.
If it turns out Ubigi isn’t your dream travel mobile data provider, don’t worry. You’re sure to find something suitable in this best international eSIMs roundup.
What Is Ubigi eSIM & Who Is It For?
Ubigi is a data-only eSIM service that provides mobile data for international travel. It’s for people who want a plan with a set amount of data for a set period of time, and for those who need data that renews each month. Unlike a physical SIM card, you install an eSIM data plan — like the ones Ubigi sells — directly on your device.

Ubigi eSIM Pros & Cons
How Does Ubigi eSIM Work?
First, buy a Ubigi mobile data plan via the Ubigi app or website. Then, install the eSIM profile on your phone and use the plan’s data while you’re abroad. This lets you avoid using your regular SIM’s data, which can result in some serious roaming charges.

Features: What Makes Ubigi Different From Other eSIMs?
In addition to one-off plans, Ubigi offers both monthly and yearly recurring data plans, which isn’t very common in the industry.

You get a certain amount of data to use per month, depending on the plan you choose (some plans are unlimited). Plans renew automatically. You can cancel monthly plans after three months, but annual plans can’t be cancelled.
Select Your IP (Beta)
Ubigi’s IP changer is a beta feature for residents of France and the U.S., though it should roll out to more destinations soon. This feature lets you switch between an IP address in your travel location and an IP from your home country so you can continue to access geo-restricted sites and services.

That said, if you want to change your IP address and keep your data private, I’d recommend opting for a VPN service like NordVPN or Surfshark.
User-Friendliness & Hands-On Testing
Ubigi is easy to install and activate, but I’ll be honest: I wish the app were more streamlined. Many of the tabs aren’t immediately evident like they are on competitors’ apps; you have to open the menu to find them, and I experienced lag at times. I managed to find my way around, but it’s not the most straightforward app for beginners.

Coverage & Network Operators
Ubigi has good regional coverage, especially in Africa. Various plan types are available for different regions. For example, in addition to a standard Europe plan, there are plans for Eastern Europe and for Scandinavia and the Baltics. The list below provides some examples of the number of countries covered on a few standard regional plans:
- Europe: 35 countries
- Asia: 26 countries
- Africa: 44 countries
The service partners with local network operators in each country. To find out which networks Ubigi partners with in your chosen location, check the details on the plan page.
Pricing: How Much Does Ubigi eSIM Cost?
Ubigi’s pricing on many popular plans is very reasonable. My 3GB French plan with 30-day
validity cost $4. The average is around $4 for 1GB for seven days, which really impressed me. However, plans for some countries are priced more similarly to competitors. Let’s take a closer look.

Payment Methods
Accepted payment methods include bank cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.), Google Pay, Apple Pay and Paypal (Ubigi app purchases only).
Speed
Many Ubigi plans support up to 5G speeds. However, you might not always get these speeds if you’re in a remote area or during peak internet hours. I enjoyed 5G speeds during testing, but it may have helped that I was in a city.
Ubigi clearly shows the speeds it supports for each plan on the “plan details” pages. Some competitors make you ask customer support for this information, so I appreciate that Ubigi makes it readily available.
Customer Support
Ubigi’s customer support options include a chatbot. If you can’t find your answer there or via the help center, you can ask the chatbot to speak to a support agent.
Live Chat Support Speed & Quality
The chatbot handles basic queries on topics like plan details and troubleshooting well. However, I waited around four hours for a response from a human agent. By contrast, some providers, like Saily, typically respond within seconds. The help center pages are pretty comprehensive, though.
The Verdict: Is Ubigi eSIM Good?
While I’m not a fan of its app and find the customer support to be relatively slow, Ubigi is a good eSIM service with flexible data plans, broad coverage and very reasonable pricing.

FAQ: Transatel Ubigi Review
Airalo is better than Ubigi.
No, Ubigi is data-only.
Ubigi eSIM is definitely cheaper than roaming for data usage. I’d choose an eSIM plan over roaming with my usual mobile plan any day
