BulletVPN Shuts Down: ‘End of Life’ Ends Lifetime Plans

BulletVPN shut down all its servers and posted an “end of life” message on its website. In the effort to soften the sting, BulletVPN offered users a free premium six-month subscription to Windscribe VPN.

Not all VPN services can survive in today’s competitive market, and another one just bit the bullet. BulletVPN suddenly updated its website to announce its “end of life,” with reasons “including shifts in market demand, evolving technology requirements, and sustainability of operations.”

To soften the blow to BulletVPN users with active subscriptions, the company is offering “ex gratia” six-month Windscribe subscriptions and discounted long-term plans. Users should email [email protected] for the offer.

BulletVPN clarified on its site that the offer was made independent of Windscribe, and that Windscribe had “not acquired or assumed control of any part of its operations,” and that no user data would be shared with the other VPN company.

Unfortunately, it seems that BulletVPN lifetime users won’t get any additional compensation. This comes only two months after VPNSecure canceled all lifetime plans, providing another reminder that “lifetime” might not last as long as users think. In BulletVPN’s case, “life” ended in July 2025.

The silver lining is that — though BulletVPN never even came close to being one of the best VPNs — Windscribe is a very reputable VPN service. It is best known for its solid free plan, ranking fourth in our best free VPN list. You can learn more about it in our Windscribe review.

Luckily with BulletVPN, the lifetime plan in 2021 (the only lifetime deal we found via the WaybackMachine) apparently cost just $39.99, which is roughly half the price of Windscribe’s annual plan of $69.

There’s always a risk in opting for lifetime plans; the larger upfront cost will often pay off within three to five years with most software, but users risk losing that investment if the company fails within that time.

Assuming BulletVPN’s lifetime plan started in 2021, it lasted four years, costing $0.84 per month. Overall, that’s not bad value, and we find the Windscribe offer to be more than generous as a parting gesture.
