75% – Good

MyPCBackup is designed for people who don’t want to think about their backing up files and what to backup when. They understand how frustrating it can be to always back up data, so they do it for you.

They are all about automation and that is why their system is constantly doing online back-ups, even while you work. They make this process very easy so that no matter what your level of computer knowledge, you are safely protected.

The only thing that you will need to do is simply install the program on your system, and the system will do the rest for you. The beauty is that not just your typed documents are safe, but they will protect photos, videos, and any other type of files you can imagine.

Oftentimes, after a computer crash, it may be necessary to re-install a lot of programs due to the hard drive’s failure. However, you won’t be able to bring back those documents or photos, they are gone forever.

This is the very reason why MyPCBackup was created. As people move more into the technological era and less away from tangible items, the threat becomes greater.

File Restoration

70% – Decent

Restoring your files from MyPCBackup is easy from the amazingly simple dashboard. MyPCBackup has engineered an exceptional server grid that communicates with Amazon S3.

This gives their users super-fast recall of their data. Just simply go to your files and find the ones you wish to upload, it’s as easy as the click of a button. There is no reason to agonize and search for hours trying to find the files like with some backup companies, this one makes everything user-friendly for all.

Everyone should practice doing a test restore a couple times. This will give you the ability to be able to react quickly and know what to do in a crisis. You can select the specific files or folders you want to restore, or you can restore all of your data, the choice is up to you.

It doesn’t take long to upload 1 or 2 documents, but the more data is to be restored, the longer it will take. The entire process is pretty straight forward and anyone should be able to do it.

Features & Extras

70% – Decent

You can always go to our online backup comparison to compare MyPCBackup with other providers. MyPCBackup is not revolutionizing the backup and storage market yet, brings you a variety of useful additions:

1. File  sharing

You can share selected files or folders with friends and family. That makes it particularly easy to share your recent photo albums to a selected group of people.

2. File sync

MyPCBackup has Dropbox-like features like file synchronization so that you can always have the most recent version on any device.

3. Locate my laptop

MyPCBackup can locate your laptop if it is stolen or lost. That way you have the potential of recovering it. The good thing is: if you can’t recover your laptop at least your files are safe.

Final Verdict

MyPCBackup is a very strong competitor in the cloud storage and backup market, yet it has some flaws. When comparing MyPCBackup to other providers, there are some limitations. While they do offer online backup well, they don’t go too much beyond just the online backup aspects.

However, they do provide their users online back-up capabilities and do that exceptionally well. Also, we must note that given their dashboard, it is the easiest user interface around. They are constantly updating their software, and with these improvements come bigger and better things.

The blog is a great way to stay connected with the company and what they want to do in the future.

  1. Hi!

I have been a user of my PC for around eight months now. I have been looking for a backup solution that would provide me with enough space to store all my files online (I own a Windows PC and my wife has a MacBook Pro). So my prerogative was that the software should be able to be working on both Windows and Macintosh.

Thanks to your comparison chart, I could sort out a great deal of companies that weren’t supporting both Mac and Windows. Then I landed on a couple of options that provided unlimited online backup: Carbonite, my PC back up, Backblaze and a few others. I didn’t know before that there were companies that offer something like unlimited online backup. Of course, no company will offer you real unlimited online backup – this is mainly a marketing trick to get you signed up. However, it works fairly well and it seems that they all do a decent job (some better than others).

I did an extensive research of reviews on the web for my PC back up and of course I found good and bad ones. Finally, I found a coupon code of 30% on this site to sign up for this service and I thought I might give it a try.

The installation is fairly easy, you just have to start the wizard and my PC backup guides you through all the necessary steps that you need to take to backup your data completely. I’m not very computer savvy so I appreciate all the help I can get. Unfortunately, I found out that I need to pay extra if I want to backup files of more than 1 GB. I have a DVD movie from a friend that I would love to backup (you can’t purchase that DVD anymore). So instead of spending around five dollars per month it got a little more expensive. I ended up paying $7.95 per month which is still a fairly good deal.

As recommended by this site, I tested the restore for a couple of important files. It seemed to be working well but again I’m not a technician so I cannot really judge if everything is all right. The files are working and restore speed is pretty fast. However, I cannot compare it to other providers as my PC backup was the first one I decided to sign up for.

What bothers me a little, our constant emails from that service which try to lower me into purchasing upgrades that I don’t need. Other than that I’m actually quite happy. I didn’t need to contact support until now but I’ve heard that it is mediocre.

Bottom line is: if you need a lot of space you should go for a service that offers unlimited online backup. I happen to land on my PC back up and I’m happy with it. Now it’s your choice.

    1. I have been a customer of MyPCBackUp for almost 5 years. Recently, my laptop crashed. When I went into the website to restore my files, I learned that MyPCBackUp had not been backing up my files since October 2015. When I called to request reimbursement, they would not reimburse me for the last two years for which they did not provide service. I’ve since cancelled my service, and do not plan to return. This organization is incompetent and lacks integrity.

  2. Hi folks – where do i start ?? – Ive tried a lot of services over the past years – you could call me a service hopper if you like because Im always looking for the best deal – ive tried carbo nite, mozy, adrive and a few others but all of them missed one core functionality that i wanted: included file sync. And to all the nay sayers: yes, i know i can use dropbox for my syncing but i like to reduce the risk and clutter so the best thing for me is to use one service only. so i came across mypcbackup.signed up for it (14 day free trial, yeahh). and finally decided to purchase the full version.

Backup works good – i like the drag and drop feature where I can just place files I need to backup and let go – I know they are now in my backup stack and ready to be used where ever i like.

I have used faster services though, adrive uploaded my files quicker yet the restore took so long. MyPcBackup did do this very well. I think I downloaded 14 gb of files in under 2 hours (cable connection). So you can do the math how long your music collection would need to be restored completely.

Support is really not good. The only thing that they is trying to give you a discount – which Im happily accepting. But don’t expect any real help there. I think that’s a problem wiht most online backup service. Where is the just say yes mentality – customer first! That’s what I want. anywhooo. You can test this service free of charge and then decide if its worth your while and money. I like it PERIOD.

  3. Got scammed into UNLIMITED backup storage. Well, It’s only unlimited if you don’t use it much. I have used less the 1T in 1.5 years and was cut off from further back ups. There was no notification from the them prior to shutting me off. Actually I got an email 12 days prior stating how great a customer I was and some great deals I could buy at a discounted rate. None of the deals were the business account they are now trying to sell me. I would like to cancel my account but I am unable to restore to a network drive as advertised. Forget about talking to tech support. No live people at all… They’ll get back to me.. and tell me the same thing “it should work”. Can’t wait to pull the plug on the remaining 1.5 years I have on the account!!!

  4. The company and the software can not be trusted. It’s unreliable and doesn’t backup as it claims it does all without any notification. Then the promised refund doesn’t happen.

  5. I have previously posted about the misleading “unlimited” back up adverts which proved to be nothing of the sort. I have noticed another downside after closing my account: I recovered nearly 17 GBs of space on my C Drive (an SSD) after deleting MyPCBackup. This is because the software maintains an index on your hard drive of what you have backed up to the cloud. My current back up service (Livedrive) doesn’t do this. When I queried the size of the MyPCBackup data base they said:
    “Thank you for your email.
We would like to share with you that the sig_cache database (Under the MyPC Backup / Database directory) contains signatures for all the files backed up, these signatures are needed in order to backup just the difference if a file changes between backups.
Hence it gets bigger as your backup increases.
If you delete only the sig_cache database backups will still function as normal, but if files are modified the whole file content will be uploaded, rather than just the difference.”

A large database on your hard drive doesn’t matter if you install to a large mechanical drive but it is much more of a problem if you use an SSD.

  6. I’m not really happy with since they are taking my money in my credit card without my authorization and permisiion.

First, they deduct an amount of USD.143.28 on 10th Jan.2017
Second, thry deduct an amount of USD.67.36 on 11th Jan.2017

This is really illegal and embarrassing.

  7. After I phoned My PC Backup my Outlook messages were cleaned out. Where did they go?

  8. Absolutely steer well clear of this outfit.
Very poor / non existent customer service.
Cancelled my account with a promise of a refund but nothing yet (one month later).
Legal action is the only way now 🙁

  9. This company is a scam. They lost my files and have been stating to me that they are updating their system and are “writing new scripts, check back in 4 days”. They have been telling me this for 18 months now!!!! Their responses to my emails are computer generated, no matter what I write in the comment box, I get similar responses. DO NOT USE MY PC BACK UP

    1. Same issue here – 12 months of telling me “check back in 4 days”. My main computer hasn’t reliably backed up since then, or at least I don’t trust it.

I started doing a dual backup to another service to experiment. I have used them for 5 years, but just cancelled, and moving to the other service exclusively now.

I am an IT Professional/Developer and this system is very poorly designed, everything is an upcharge, and their Support is probably the worst I’ve ever dealt with. My anti-virus keeps flagging it as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA) anyway… now it really is unwanted 🙂

  10. I used them for one subscription period. Constant popups and emails truing to get me to buy features that I did not need. When it came time to renew, the price was MUCH higher. I told them no. They kept sending emails offering much lower prices, mostly from a person named Bridgette Powell, but I could never find a way to pay for the service at the discounted prices. They always sent emails offering and telling me how to do it, but the instructions that Bridgette Powell kept sending never worked. It was like the wanted me to just break down and buy the higher priced option. At one point I thought I had actually paid it, but then got more emails asking me to renew. After having enough of their bullshit, I just dropped them cold.
