Mr. Robot is one of the more interesting shows made in the past decade, and though it has a few unexpected, and occasionally off-putting, turns, it has garnered a 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. If giving the finger to the powers that be in an even more dystopian version of our society sounds like your cup of tea, read on to find out how to watch Mr. Robot.
The show follows Elliot, a cybersecurity engineer by day and hacker by night. Though his anti-social attitude leads to small issues in the workplace, Elliot faces more pressing matters as he attempts to take down the corporation that gives him his livelihood.
Inspired by the hacktivists that are part of Anonymous, Elliot joins a group of underground hackers known as “fsociety” to take down the largest corporation in the world, E Corp. If it wasn’t clear, Mr. Robot is on the nose with its social commentary, asking how far morals can be stretched before it’s not worth it.
Watch Mr. Robot Online
Mr. Robot airs on the USA Network, and though some networks allow you to stream their shows online — read our how to watch Riverdale guide for an example — USA Network isn’t among them. The only way to watch Mr. Robot online that’s legitimate is through Amazon Prime Video, which may pose issues depending on where you live.
Amazon Prime Video is available in 200 countries, but not all of the shows and movies on the platform are available across them. Because of distribution geoblocks, you may see a different library depending on where you’re located. Amazon even goes as saying EU members traveling outside the EU will only be able to watch Prime Originals titles.
Thankfully, there’s a way around that, though. With a virtual private network, you can appear as if you’re anywhere in the world without physically being there. The VPN replaces your IP address and encrypts your connection, protecting you not only from the VPN detection systems, but also from network snoopers.
We have a list dedicated to the streaming platform, so read our best VPN for Amazon Prime Video guide to find picks. You should reference our how to watch Amazon Prime Video guide, too, because it’ll show you a few tricks for taking the platform’s content on the go.
Watch Mr. Robot for Free
Finding Mr. Robot for free is difficult, which isn’t surprising considering how closely the USA Network holds the show to its chest. We found every episode streaming on Couchtuner, though, which, if you’ve never used it, is about as sketchy as it gets.
Illegal streaming websites like Couchtuner are funded in a couple of ways, but the main one is nagging pop-ups. Everything from games to gambling to porn can fly onto your monitor, so it’s important to get one of our best pop-up blockers before starting the show. Given the websites’ legal status, a VPN is important, too. Read our ExpressVPN review to learn about our favorite.
An antivirus is even more important, though. These streaming websites are littered with cybercrime, so you’ll want something to ensure that you don’t get hit with, say, ransomware. You can read our best antivirus software guide for a few suggestions, but we like Bitdefender Antivirus most (read our Bitdefender Antivirus review).
Watch Mr. Robot on Kodi
If searching sketchy websites isn’t your thing — Mr. Robot will teach better, anyway — you can stream through Kodi. It takes the streams found on websites like CouchTuner and compiles them in a single place. If you want to learn more about the platform, read our Kodi guide.
You can stream with Kodi using add-ons, which you can learn about in our best Kodi add-ons guide. That said, not using the website directly doesn’t mean you’re not streaming content from it. You’ll still want a VPN and antivirus protecting you, but a pop-up blocker is less of a concern.
Mr. Robot Torrents
You can torrent Mr. Robot, too. Torrenting is a method of downloading files that uses a peer-to-peer connection to piece together the file from multiple machines. Because of its decentralized nature, torrenting is a popular path for getting around copyright infringement, though it’s not entirely legal.
If you don’t want a notice from your internet service provider or, worse, to be fined by the copyright holder, you’ll want to use a VPN when torrenting. We have a guide on the best VPN for torrenting, and though ExpressVPN is still a fine choice for it, we like NordVPN more (read our NordVPN review).
Though it can be difficult to find a stream for Mr. Robot, it’s not difficult to find torrents, which isn’t surprising considering the subject matter is so closely related. We found every episode on RARBG, LimeTorrents and The Pirate Bay, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding the file you need.
ExpressVPN is still the best choice and it took the crown in our best VPN for Kodi guide. There are other options, though. We like CyberGhost a lot for streaming, and as you can read in our ExpressVPN vs. CyberGhost comparison, it’s not far behind our favorite. Read our CyberGhost review to learn more.
Mr. Robot gets strange, but the show is worth a watch regardless. The grim tone and dark subject matter are surprising, especially for USA Network. Clearly moving from the standard programming paid off, though, because the adventures of Elliot and fsociety have enough twists for even the most battle-hardened streamers.
